Another speedy hiker

Will and Snorkel

Finally found someone faster than me! Will (his trailname, real name is Eric), caught up to me. He said he’d heard about me from other hikers—a girl who also started on April 15th and was going for the record and he wanted to catch up. “Great,” I thought, “a pinkblazer.” The competitive nature of it sounded a bit like Eric D., but he assured me he is actually Eric B.. Will is not a pink blazer and we had a great conversation all the way to Damascus of his southbound hike of the PCT, recent hike of the Florida Trail, and speed on the AT. It was so great to talk to someone going my own pace.

We resupplied at Food Lion (and I got the tofu and fruit and veggies I had been dreaming of!). I feel a bit like Eric D/Tattoo Joe/Scott Williamson must feel together—finally someone to stay my speed and encourage me faster and onwards!
